Scope Of Work

An interesting sloping ex demolition site that comprises of 2 large apartment blocks at the rear of the development and 17 No houses to the front made for interesting scheme for us.

The 2 apartment blocks and the 17 houses which makes up the development were founded on groundbeams which received circa 23 ton of reinforcement set in reinforced concrete, the substructure brick and blockwork went to maximum depths of 1.5m, which supported the Thermal flooring system specified for use.

For surface water attenuation on site a tank was installed with a volume of 120m3, this received a geotextile fleece with a granular backfill material used to make up levels as this was situated under trafficked areas.

The extensive parking on site was in line with the SUDS design where the overall construction thickness of this was 0.9m which is made up from a combination of permeable paving and free draining approved granular sub base which extended over 1300m2 in area, this was accompanied by standard block paving covering 500m2.

With regards to the off site improvements these had to be made to the entrance into the development as well as the footpaths running across the site frontage, all of these works were carried out under temporary 2 way traffic lights to comply with Highways requirements.

The onsite macadam roads covered an area of over 500m2 with the drainage located under this going to a depth of 3m utilising upto 300mm dia pipes.

As with any sloping development retaining walls play a big part of the design, along the site boundary a retaining system was installed to facilitate a reduce level dig of 3m in depth this was joined by circa 225m of retaining walls to the private garden areas retaining upto 2.2m in height.
